COACHING COURSE DATES

Please note that it is compulsory for coaches to attend the appropriate course but also a valuable way to learn the rules of these adapted games and also learn warm drills and coaching
skill that can be used in coaching in the future.  All attendees will receive a manual to take with them for future reference also, which is a very useful tool.

Umpire Courses

Below are dates for a refresher course for new umpires in the last couple of years, or anyone who wants to attend.  And for the Introductory Course for new umpires wanting to get started this year. I have included dates for senior players and for adults wanting to do their course too.  If any students are unable to attend the 14 April, they can attend the adult session.

DATE CHANGE - Sun 31 March is now Sun 14 April   course for 2nd year umpires (protocols, obstruction, contact) - preparation for Alexandra Tournament

Sat 4 April - Alexandra tournament for 2nd year umpires and senior umpires to get back in the swing.  New year 7 & 8 umpires potentially playing and not good tournament for them.

Sun 14 April  - Umpires Introductory Course for Year 7-8 new umpires (any adults welcome if unable to make Adult course) - all encouraged to get involved with Year 6 netball training at their schools

Mon 15 April - Player Theory Discussion - players then com

plete the theory online and forward certificate to me for confirmation after complete.  If anyone unable to attend, they are still able to attempt the online theory with rule book in hand. We probably should get a bundle more rule books??

Sun 28 April - Umpires Introductory Course for new adult umpires (any students welcome if unable to make the 13th April)

The course includes theory discussions, hand signals, game protocols, practical experience, and a netball game to umpire.  You need to bring your whistle, drink bottle, notebook and running shoes. Be dressed warmly and come prepared to have a great time.

What to bring to the Umpire Course

You will need to bring a finger grip whistle with you.

These are available from Rebel Sport for $10.

Payment of $10 for each umpire should be paid directly to the

Wakatipu Netball Centre account -  SBS Queenstown 03 1355 0626250-00  including your child's name and IUM (Introductory Umpire Module) as reference.

This will go towards the cost of a new rule book and some of the facility charges.

Please also bring a packed lunch and drink bottle.

Your running shoes would be best too as you will be active on the court during the day.

And a notebook & pen to keep your notes safe.

Expected time for the programme will be from 9.30am to 4pm.

There are no more spaces available for the course - we have 30 young umpires enrolled.

Support throughout the netball season is provided and umpires are only allocated games at a suitable level on Saturdays when they are ready.

Please contact Jane Hughes 027 4511161 for more information.
