Student Achievement
One of each school’s requirements is to report to the community on student achievement.
Our school has a schedule of assessment tools (e.g. asTTle and PAT tests) which we use to get an overall picture of student achievement. These tests are very useful as they provide nationally standardized scores which allow us to compare our children’s achievement with other children throughout New Zealand.
These test results are only one part of the assessment picture. Teachers use a range of assessment systems (including observations of children as they work, reviewing children’s classroom work, interviewing and conferencing children, discussing their work with them) before they make an overall teacher judgement about the child’s achievement level e.g. for national standards.
